A4 1.8t brakes

Hi
I've been a member of the forum for a while now but have never posted before now. After searching around for information about brake upgrades for the a4, it's a bit overwhelming -- it seems this question has been asked many many times, but the information is so scattered.

Anyways, here is my situation...
My 04 A4 1.8t quattro has close to 70,000 miles on it. I bought it at 35,000 miles and aside from the ignition coils being replaced (when it was still under warranty), I've had no problems with it. It now needs brakes.

For people who have done the A8 rotor with TT carriers and ceramic pads upgrade, about how much did it cost? Does the wheel size matter? My A4 is not the sport model and has stock wheels. Could someone link me to a few websites where I could buy these parts?

On an unrelated note, things I plan to do within the next 10k miles: timing belt, plugs/wires, possibly a new clutch... then when all of that is done, maybe a chip.

Thanks
EJ

honestly IMO it wouldn't be worth the hassle unless you're really planning on doing more performance mods. The stock brakes are good, and you can make them better by upgrading pads and getting cross drilled/slotted rotors.

Save the money and get better wheels!

shane is right. Unless you plan on upgrading the turbo to get massive hp gains, then the stock brake setup should be sufficient. If not, you can upgrade to the b5 s4 brake setup. It's really easy, you just call your local auto shop, mine is Napa, and ask for them to order the b5 s4 rotors, calipers, and pads. (and brake lines). The swap would be just like changing rotors and pads except you replace all the parts. The only problem would be that your stock wheels will probably not clear the upgrade, so like shane said, get better wheels.

good point about the wheels. i'll stick to something from autozone or napa as far as brakes and will consider saving up for a set of wheels... or just put that money towards a down payment on an S4 sometime in the future.

thanks!
