Just off hand, that code doesn't sound like the MAF. The lean fuel trim code generated in my Passat with the same engine, indicated a vacuum leak. Generally its a leak directly off the intake manifold somewhere. In my case, a small hose connected at the front of the manifold that came loose from an emissions component under the manifold. A new clamp on the hose and the code never returned.

Haven't had this particular lean fuel trim code generated in my Audi. But I don't think it's different from the VW. Regardless, removing and properly cleaning the MAF on occasion is good maintenance.

Thanks for the reply.

Turned out to be a breather problem. New breather valve installed and now back running smoothly.
