accord: low maintenance with lower cost, better mpg, and sad to say probably faster.

A4: higher cost to maintain, worst gas mileage, turbo, but more expensive to mod.

high cost on A4's maintenance:

Timing belt replacement at around 70 to 75k (tahtz $1000USD +)
spark plug replacement ( $350 USD)

common problem:
-window regulator problem
-sludge issue
-oil leaks (since it already has 44k on it)

I bought my 02 A4 3.0 Quattro 7 monthes ago (it has 74k):
during this 7 monthes.
- rebuilt my transmission (replace TC) $3300
- Valve Gasket oil leak (replace valve gasket + spark plug) $700
- driver side window regulator failed $200
- front dipped & rear dipped light bulbs DIY repair
- replaced rear rotors & pads $450

Just to let you know.

08 accord has on-board maintenance computer, it monitors your RPM, engine Temp and calculates when the maintenance is due.
If you drive gentlely, your maintenance interval will be longer.
it will show which type of maintenance you need. Like "A1" or "B12"
A means "Honda Package A", 1 means "tire rotation".

If I had time going back, I will get 08 accord even though USP is really sexy!!!
I am just tired of going to repair shop every month....

anwayz, both cars are sweet.
If you do get that sexy USP, take good care of it espeically more frequent oil change.
GOOD LUCK!!

Monkey how do u get $350 for plugs, that means $87.5 per plug and any car will need new spark plugs. Sludge is only a real problem if you don't use synthetic and or don't change your oil and a USP doesn't need oil changed more often than a regular 1.8t. Sounds like you didn't inspect your a4 before you bought it.

We still don't know the prices on the cars and 40k miles isn't that bad. I know it's an audi vs honda but how can an 08 honda accord be similar in price to an 05' a4. Both are good cars, if you don't care about how the car drives get the honda. If you want a nice sporty car with way way more potential that is damn sexy get the a4. If you live anywhere with snow and don't have another vehicle with awd/4wd I'd get the a4.

my bad, it was $275 including labour and tax.
I got NGK platium plugs ($160). They charged me for 2 hours of labour.

I didnt mean USP needs more oil change than regular 1.8T. they're both same exactly engines.
If you do a research little more, some ppl have sludge problem even they use synthetic on their 1.8T engines.

also, there is no way you can inspect Torque Converter inside the transmission.
It wont give you any hint for unable to lock-up, yet it still shifts like normal.
I guess I just got bad luck...

you should test drive the 08 accord coupe, it drives sporty too.

I'm well aware of the sludge issue and it's not that likely to happen assuming you use the right oil and change it regularly. That still seems way way way too high of a price for plugs and it's not 2 hrs of work. You could change a set of plugs in 30min, how much were each of your plugs? Did you go to a dealer? I run NGK bkr7es and I think they were like $5 each.

I went to local auto shop.
they charge me the NGK Platimum $160 for all 6.
I called in quote from the other shop, he quoted me the similiar price too.
ya , 2 hours of labour is overpricing for spark plugs...
The other guy here did the spark plugs for $300 sth.

Hi

The most important thing that l noticed about the Audi is that it has a more solid drive. There is a big difference in the way they drive. I have never owned an Asian car except for a Datsun Z and that was eon's ago.

But being that the Honda is much newer it has the edge!

Good Luck

Alan
