ok heres my list. it wont be in chronological order.

at 84k
head gasket
radio antenna amp
when car idles for about 15 minutes with my key, but not the other one, the ac shuts off and the immobilizer light flashes. this is fixed by turning the car of and back on. the dealer looked at this multiple times but never figured it out. still does it to this day.

at 74k miles
window regulator broke, again
instrument cluster display fading, was replaced

at 71k miles
idle immobilizer again
steering rack leaking, had to be replaced
ac needed a charge again
car would start and die immediately, they said it was a dirty throttle body, which they cleaned. dont know about that bc in 25k miles it has remained perfectly clean
broken dip stick
leaking washer fluid tank

at 45k
ac charge
air bag light goes on and off. they couldnt reproduce problem.
car would sometimes not start, vacuum leak at pcv valve
safety triangle in trunk had fallen off

at 56k
check engine light, caused by vacuum line from intake manifold to combi valve
headlight switch broke, was replaced, is now broken again. basically it does not illuminate.

at 37k
alarm beeper wasnt working
CEL for vacuum line from intake mani to solenoid
first set of wiper blades, have put 3 more sets on since
first time car is accelerated in drive after car is started there is a clunk. they couldnt figure it out so it still doing that 60k miles later.

at 35k
trans indicator lights are all lighting up. they couldnt reproduce
ac controls peeling
radio peeling
dead battery

at 50k
airbag light. couldnt reproduce

these arent all of the problems, i guess im missing some records. for a while the car was in the shop at least once every 2 months. luckily, my car was CPO so this only cost me $50 each time it went in and not the regular price.

oh yeah, since the CPO warranty ran out i have had to do the thermostat, the flange, a vacuum line, the drivers seat is split on the bolster, the lock button in the backseat is broken, credit card tray is broken (wasnt used much), drivers seat back is popped off, a few speakers are blown, dash cup holder is broken, and have had to do a coilpack or two. also, i know i am missing at least one service invoice for when the car blew a coil and then would not start at all, not even turn over. that time it had to be towed 2 hours to the dealer. it had blown a coil or 2 which then caused some wiring to melt. that was around 60-70k miles. fortunately it was still CPO at that point and i didnt have to cover the 600 tow, or the repair.

oh yeah, the regulator in the rear pass. window has broken twice, and the left has broken once.

oh yeah again: the battery died again in june 08, which was at around 80k miles. didnt remember it had been replaced within 5 years so i had to pay the 280 to have it done.

sounds like the total opposite from me. stage 1+ apr on my b6 a4 with hr springs, 50000 hard driven miles and not an issue besides light bulbs going out here and there. If you want to get a b6 a4, perhaps get a 2005. I think they worked out alot of the bugs by then. Also get the manual if possible. I've heard a lot of stories with the auto.

The A6 is a lot more car in many respects. When I go back and forth between both cars I can't get comfy in the A4 anymore...
The 2005 A4 is now on the auction block, with just 27 k miles on it.
Any takers? PM me please!

I do believe that a lot of my problems are bc I have the first model year of the b6 cars. Bc of this I've vowed to never buy another first year model.

About the backseat though, at the auto show this year I sat in the back of an is250/350 and a g37, both of which are on the list of possibilities to replace the a4. I'm
6'1" and there was no chance of getting in the IS, and not much for the g37. Both had less room than the b6 a4. You know what was comfy though? The backseat of the b7.

hmmm the most comfortable back seat i have seen is the backseat of the M5. Never sat in the back though.. I was having too much fun in the driver seat!

the thing i hate about the B6 backseat though is how it is much higher in the middle..

Yeah I never sit in the back either, just something I like to consider when making a decision. If I didn't need a decent back seat I would just get a 2 door.
