Default B6 questions

Hi,

My buddy has an 03 A4 1.8T Quattro but is a total n00b so i'm looking to gather some info so I can point him in the right direction.

1) What do things things dyno when completely stock?
2) Stock boost is 9? psi?
3) How much power can a stock motor take before things start to let go, and what's the first thing to let go?
4) For chips, I read about Giac, Revo etc.. what do they generally up the boost to and how much power increase? 30hp or so?

Thanks

Mark

1) What do things things dyno when completely stock? Depends on the dyno used, fwd/awd, altitude and temp outside. ~130awhp
2) Stock boost is 9? psi? yes
3) How much power can a stock motor take before things start to let go, and what's the first thing to let go? About 300ftlbs. Depends on the turbo used for HP. Journal bearing turbos and larger housings make more power than faster spooling turbos that make 300+ tq down low. With that said, the rods are the only weak point. Replace those and the engine can do 600+whp.
4) For chips, I read about Giac, Revo etc.. what do they generally up the boost to and how much power increase? 30hp or so? There is also unitronics and APR. The boost depends on the tuner. Its usually 18-20psi. Gains are basically about 30hp and 50tq.
