Buying first A4
Hey Guys,
I'm planning on buying an older A4 and I've narrowed it down between a few different ones, but I have a few questions about each. And I really love good sound quality and plan on transferring my JL 12" into it and is the Bose system worth it because I don't plan on replacing 10 speakers?
I really like the dark grey ones but my concerns with this car are the scratches on the front and the cost to repair these and whether it has heated seats or not but it's cheaper than most other listings.
AUDI A4 (2002)
I just don't know about the color?
2002 AUDI A4 3.O QUATTRO/FULLY SERVICED/GOOD TIRES/CLEAN CARFAX
Another grey one, but a lot more miles than the first and not a lot of information is listed.
AUDI A4 QUATRO 02
Any comments or opinions will be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the forums!
The first question you should ask is "Do you have full maintenance records?"
If they say no, then it's time to walk away unless you don't mind risk. Dolphin Gray A4 with 140k miles on it has just had the timing belt job done, but that's still overpriced IMO.
Did you go to Kelley Blue Book and check to see what private party cost should be? You should do that right now.
As to the Bose question, I've owned 3 A4's and they've all had the Bose system in them. I can't say if it's worth it or not, but the sound is acceptable to me. Not as good as a Bang & Olufson, of course, but decent enough. YMMV.
The best piece of advice I can give is to be patient and don't settle for something less than the one you want. If you want a Dolphin Gray A4 without the bumper scratches, then wait for one to show up on sale. It will eventually happen.
Personally, I like the blue 3.0 in the second ad. It looks clean.

+1 to that. be patient and keep an eye on the forum for a few weeks to see what kinds of things are common issues you need to look for.
Maintenance records are key to knowing if you are getting a good deal along with knowing a reputable independant audi technician that can inspect what you find.
As far as your three options I would stay clear of the first one with the CVT transmission. known to not last much longer than the miles on that vehicle. Do a quick search to see more than a few threads that say so...
Of the other two, he's asking way too much for the dolphin grey one unless it is in immaculate shape and has every option. I bought my '03, 1.8T Quattro loaded in Dec'10 for $7500 w/ 82k miles.
At least the dealership may give you a 6month 6k miles limited warranty or something.
Good luck!

Both seem a bit over-priced with regards to their mileage. I just bought my 03' 1.8T A4 with 110k miles for $6,500.
I'm doing the same thing you are in regards to the sound system. I took everything out of my old car and am going to have it installed (with a few upgrades) into the Audi.
Good luck with the search - just wait for the right one.
