Exclamation Camshaft Position Timing

Yesterday my check engine light came on. The code is P0011 Intake Camshaft Position Timing Over-Advanced (Bank 1). I have cleared it and will wait to see if it comes back on.

In the meantime has anyone had ever had this code come up and figured out what triggered it? Camshaft sensor?

2003 A4 1.8T 44,000 miles.

Thanks in advance.

That sensor is a common problem.

Default fixed the issue

audi a4 1.8 turbo 2004 with 85k miles, car started to rumble and have rpm spikes like crazy and the camshaft sensor was mentioned on the p0011 code

I bought the sensor for 119.99 it was a tiny mission but i managed to replace it.

I also replaced the battery and that seemed to have fixed the issue. Remember a bad battery will cause these malfunctions due to not enough juice going the the circuit due to bad battery.

ALSO this might seem weird but take my word for it. if your oil has to much Viscosity it will also cause this problem.

Ive been having a similar issue with my 3.0 but it's the bank 2 exhaust. I've gotten the cam sensor from advance for about $30. I'll let you guys know if anything changes

Well, cam sensor didn't help any. I think I need to take it back to the shop that did the timing and tell them to fix it. Because I'm starting to think they did it wrong and just pushed it out the door anyway.
