If you clear the code it will clear it out of the computer, I believe. Be very aware of what happens to your car after you do this. The car will try to establish new baselines, and run normally, so it will take time to give you another CEL..basically watchout for problems your having now causing damage while your car is trying to re-adjust before it throws another CEL at you..

 

Yeah I sent the payment and info in to audi of america to transfer the warranty into my name. Thats going to take a week or 2 im sure. The extended warranty is up in July, not december like I was told. But the cat converter is covered under a different warranty up until 80k miles, correct? If/when the light comes back ill take it to the stealership.

I erased the code today using a scanner. We'll see if it comes back. I will pay attention to the car and look for any changes, but its running fine.

 

Just to update the thread, I brought the car in to the dealer today. They replaced the CAT 100% free of charge fully covered under the federal emissions warranty. I believe its 8years/80k miles.

 

Right on...it's always great not having to pay for repairs.

 

Man i got a 3.0 quattro and got to get my cats replaced, $2900 each att the dealer, other shops dont even want to touch it they said is too hard and that i have to get the oem cats? what can i do? whats a test pipe?

 

$2900 for each cat, what the ****?! Are you under warranty? They're covered for 8yrs/80k miles. If it comes down to that i'd either sell it or find someone to pass you for inspection "under the table". A test pipe is a regular off road pipe to replace/eliminate the cat converter. Obviously you won't pass inspection legally with that on.

Hey fellas... i really need help here... i failed emissions dreaded P0420... Problem is i replaced the Cat which was "TOAST" and it came back... I changed both O2 sensors and guess what... "IT'S BAAACCCCKKKKKKK!!!! WHAT the F^%$ else could it be?????
