Default CVT problems - replace with manual transmission

Hello all,

Having problems with my 04 1.8T multitronic transmission, and after reading the countless posting on CVT overhauls or replacements, I am thinking through my options. Have any of you successfully replaced a CVT with a manual transmission or know of someone that has? Is this even possible?

Alternatively, are there certain parts in these CVT transmission that once replaced make it more reliable?

Thanks,

Matt

Yes you could, but its not financially feasable for a dailly driver. Warning lights from the TCM and ECM would flash at you all the time because it wouldn't be able to see the auto trans. Fixing the CVT and selling it is your best route.

You cant jsut sway the trannys. You will need the engine that was attached to the manual transmission too. Search around on audizine.com about this subject, its been discussed there many times.
