engine light turned on + bumpy rpms + noise

so i was driving my sisters 2004 audi 1.8t Quattro. it has 88000kms(55000miles). anyways today as i was driving it the engine light turned on. at the beginning there was no difference in power or anything. i pulled over and checked it out. eveyrthing seemed to be fine buut the light. so i was heading home, and then my cars power was like lost. the rpms were very jittery and very bumpy. i drove the car home asap (not gunning it, just went directly home) and then when i parked the car i heard a noise coming from under the car/under the hood. i opened the hood and i see something glowing red and hot on the left side of the back in the back. i paniced! got scared turned the car off. and went inside the house. i'm gonna look at it tomorrow and see what is up. anyone have suggestions or comments? kinda looked like it was a catalytic converter, but i could be wrong...

its probly the ignition coil basicly ur runing ur car with no action in one of the cynders so ur car will work hard and the red thing is probl just the turbo to the left most turbos will turn a glowing red due to the heat they give off but i wouldnt drive on it a all cuz if it isnt ur ignition coil then ur timeing belt can be messed up and that only runs to more problems is ur egine light flashing

+1, one or more of your coilpacks are blown, this is a common problem. get four new OEM R coilpacks and carry at least two spares or get the hitachi E coilpack kit from ecs and you will never have a blown one again (unlikely anyway) i also run the hitachi E's.. very easy DIY
