Default Engine Overheat Problem!!

Hello folks,

i am a newbie, just bought Audi A4 B6 (1.8T Quattro) yesterday with 60,500 miles on it

I tested the car, no mechanical problems at all. A problem came up yesterday,

The car engine overheates when its at rest for 20-30 minutes and I get the Coolant message in dash

If I rev the engine, the temperature doesn't go down ( I figured its not a thermostat problem). Looking in the engine bay, none of the two fans are working!!

I tried to locate the Fusebox to check if there exist a fuse for these cooling fans,, I couldnt find the FuseBox!! Where did the germans hide it? lol

What are your suggestions to diagnose the problems folks?

I am positivie it is your fan control module; it is no good and nneds to be replaced. It is a located in front of your alternator mounted right below the red engine warning sticker. This cost about $650.00 at the dealer plus labor. These cars are notorious for this problem.

Is there a way to dignose the problem before I go ahead and buy a fan control relay? i.e. is there a fuse for it in the fusebox?

Any suggestions ?

Could be a water pump also. Just had ours go out and the motor got hot, especially when standing still. Had the coolant warning indicator on the dash too. Dealer charged $800.00 to fix it Original pump is a poor metal on plastic design that will seperate from the shaft. New all metal one is better.
