Default First timer looking for new tires

I just got a flat on the highway the other day, thank goodness for my A4's full-sized spare!
When I went to get it repaired I was told the tire is shot, pulverized, irreparable.

So now I have to find a new tire, and I figured I'd invest in a whole set.

My current tires are Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S 235/45-17R 94H (came with the car when I purchased it in December).
I am looking for all season tires that are more affordable (<= $100 per tire), while still good quality.

Any suggestions?

Conti Extreme Contact DWS

They'll probably run you about $650 or so installed.

if you liked the Michelin Pilot Exalto's I would suggest the BFG Supersport A/S, it has the same technology as the Exalto (since Michelin and BFG are the same company) and it has a much lower cost.

Not to flame but there are tons of tire threads on this forum that talk about the 'best' tires for our cars, so you must really be trying to get some suggestions for a sub-$100 option, which isn't very easy. I'd strongly recommend that you find a couple extra bucks because you'll have a lot more options in the $130 range, and an easier time staying within our recommended performance range.

In a previous car I found myself spinning backwards at 80 mph down the highway because I bought a cheap tire with too much sidewall flex, I'll spend more money for good tires from now on and i'd recommend you do the same!

Not going to happen. You will not find a decent tire for less 100.00 per.

A good tire will be around 150 - 175.

The best tire for an Audi gererally is a Conti Pro Contact. They are pushing these Conti Extreme Contacts now. Which are good tires, some people have reported tire noises for the first 5k miles or so.... but still perform well.

Yea, after calling around a bit, I quickly figured I would have to spend more than $100 per tire.

Some places have quoted me for Falcons ($681 w/ installation), Bridgestone Potenza and Hankook Ventus ($790 w/), Yokohama Envigour ($794 w/) and Conti Extreme Contact DWS ($880 w/).
The prices (CAD) seem to be pretty standard once installation is accounted for.

Are these prices worth acting upon, or perhaps I should look into used tires?

I've only done business though TireRack and will keep going there. Not to plug but ive always seen theyre the cheapest of the reputable internet tire sellers, and you can have the tires shipped to a local installer of your choice, pretty handy...
They also have good resources and reviews for picking out the best tire for your budget.

Oh, and when you're checking out local installers, I'd recommend asking to see what type of wheel balancers they have. Road force balancers or lazer balancers are more accurate than the standard spin balancers, they will make your car feel like its on rails because there's no wobble or anything through the steering wheel at any speed
