Default Fuel pump dissection- check valve replaceable?

I am having the long start problem where it keeps cranking then fires up and runs great. I think it is a check valve in the fuel line problem but am open to ideas.

Can you replace the check valve in the FP? Can you use an aftermarket 255lph type pump in these pumps? I have had good luck with those and they are a good value.

Santa would not be fired up to have to buy a new pump after all this car has consumed recently.

don't be timid or shy. These boards live or die based on conversation.

No one has ever taken out a fuel pump or observed one to make a comment? Owning this car is hard enough but a quiet or shy board makes it even harder.

Fuel pumps go bad on these cars all the time. I've never heard of anyone using an aftermarket pump. Then again i am a dealer technician, We do offer aftermarket parts to customer's when the price of the part is high against the age of the car. But i've never done it with a fuel pump.
