I have an A4 Jan 2004 1.9 TDI. It has just failed it's MOT because the nearside headlamp is aiming too low, the tester said it was electric and could not adjust it. I tried to adjust it with the headlamp leveller in the cabin, the offside does not move but the nearside does go up an down but at its highest it is low compared to the offside.

My first question, is there a manual adjustment to lift the beam? If so where is it? Second if I need to replace the headlight does it contain the electric motor what part do I order?

 

I assume u have stock hids. When you turn on your car do your headlights move down then up. If so they ur motor is probbaly shot. There are some white caps on your headlight housing to adjust the beam on stock bulbs not sure if they are there with hids. U should be able to pop off that little cap and there is a screw for adjustment. One screw is to adjust left right and the other to adjust up and down.
