Default Headlight question needs a simple answer

I've searched and I can't seem to find one person who has answered this question. I have a 2004 A4 with Halogen projector headlights. I know where i can get a set of OEM HID housings, (bulbs, balasts, motors) everything. Can you just swap them? will the HID Housing fit? If someone has already asked this and I missed the thread, oops sorry, and can you point me in the right direction? lol Thanks!

ok I tried to do this...bad idea...spent about a $1k in materials ballasts lights etc. It did not work for me. I too have a 04 A4 its a 3.0 quattro. Guy above says to replace the fuse but if you look at your fuse box...there is no fuse for the headlights. I am positive they have to be within the wiring. Sucks. I ended up buying projection aftermarket. Not as white of a light but still very nice. cost was $300 not 1k. Seriously I plugged in FACTORY headlights, ballasts everything legit I thought they flickered and turned off and never worked again. One worked for about 10 minutes then...nothing. I swear the fuse for the headlights is not in the fuse box...check it out... you will see.

i thought the fuse was for the auto leveling lights. Well if u dont want to run the risk u can always go buy an aftermarket hid kit from ddm tunning for under 50 bucks and call it a day. The look equally as nice for 3/4 the price. And it carries a lifetime warranty.

I actually agree I think the aftermarket kit would actually work rather than the factor route that I took. Its way cheeper, unfortunitly your not getting the factory stuff that we all so despritely strive for but hey...it works and with the same results probably.

yea the aftermarket kit is the same deal just u loose the self leveling function. But you might be saving your self money with that cause the self leveling motor tends to crap out over time and can be pricey to replace. Name: DSC02014.jpg

You can't just install OEM headlights (xenons) into a car factory fitted with Halos and then think they will just work. You need to take the car to the dealer to have the xenons controller enabled if it is there that is. Other wise your car is not aware that you running HIDs. you might only succeed in getting flicker once and then kaboom dead no more. If you want to upgrade but bypassing the dealer do not use OEM, just buy aftermarket and they will work with a messy wire cutting and joining
