Default Heat Soaked Intake and Intercooler

Well, I am running an A4 with apr stage 1 tuning and a TP. Its hot where live over 100 yesterday, only gonna get hotter. I have noticed a drastic loss of power the hotter it gets, yesterday it was 106 degrees inside my intake, and the car was a sluggish beast. I was almost afraid to drive it! I am seriously thinking about running a custom cold air intake to attempt to get more cold air into the motor, but would insulating the test pipe help to move more heat out of the exhaust and then in turn remove some of the heat from the intake or additional heat sheilding between the intake and the motor. I am also about to install and S4 wheel well liner into my a4 for the intercooler venting.

Any other suggestions!

You do realize that a cai has 0 effect on the air temps (iat) when it going into the motor? You are heat soaking the ic with a chip and need an upgrade. You can get either a larger smic or fmic.

I thought it would have minimal effects at the most, but 0% i was unaware of. I was planning on getting a k04 and a fmic this summer, but it seems like i will be needing the fmic before i get the turbo. what about insulating the TP to move some of the heat from the turbo away from the IC? I know it isnt a solution for the heat soak, but could it help the situation. I am just trying to plan this out before it gets any hotter~

Covering or wrapping the dp/tp will help lower the underhood temps. A fmic will be a better to get sooner than the turbo if you have to do one than the other.

of course, it only makes sense to do in that order. I had planned on doing it all at once, but that doesnt work out with my bank acount
