Idles rough and then dies. Throttle body issue?
About 3 days ago, I attempted to drive my 1.8t out of the neighborhood, but noticed that when I put the clutch in to shift the power would drop and kill the car. It started again right away, so I drove it in 2nd back home and parked it. When I turn it on, it idles rough between 800-900 RPMs, and is shaky, then eventually dies. There's a punctured hose I noticed (T-Joint encasing the PCV valve), so I attempted to spray some Starter fluid in and see if it smoothed out. No effect. My cousin, a full-time mechanic, suggested it might be the throttle-body or the IAC motor. Any ideas?
Also, there's a check-engine light coming on as well as a battery light. Trying to borrow a friends code reader soon to pull the numbers. The car has 90k and has been well maintained with all regular maintenance.
