Immobilizer Problem
 

I have had an immobilizer problem ever since i bought my car (03 a4 1.8t) a couple of years ago. Finally the problem got so bad I decided to pay the 300 dollars to get a new key. The problem went away for about a couple of weeks and now the problem is coming back where the immobilizer light is still blinking and the engine is being prevented from starting because of it. I told the advisor at audi and he said the reader module should be tested. Today I ran VCDS on all electrical and cluster systems, etc, and got the following codes:

17978 - Engine Start Blocked by Immobilizer
P1570 - 008 - - Intermittent
01317 - Control Module in Instrument Cluster (J285)
49-10 - No Communications - Intermittent
00474 - Control Module for Immobilizer
49-10 - No Communications - Intermittent
01176 - Key
07-10 - Signal too Low - Intermittent


Does anyone know how to replace/ know a diy for this control module, I don't want to go back to the dealer.

hey everyone just reporting back from this immobilizer problem if anyone has it; my car had not been starting constantly for 3 days because of the immobilizer, and today I decided to throw a new battery into it. Problem went away immediately and car started right up. I guess there wasn't enough voltage getting to the instrument cluster and to the control module from my old battery.
So hopefully this problem will never happen again, it was very frustrating to deal with.
