If you don't have a T15 torx (super small) to pull the screws out, just use a small flat head screw driver or pliers to get them out, they aren't bolted in there real tight.
I never put them all back in either, completely unnecessary.

WOW I never read this part. Sorry guys, I thought it was more cut and dry.

As always, with regards to the CEL, get it scanned and find out what your fault codes are. If you live in Ottawa Ontario, I can do it for you.

Cheers

Does that apply to all B6 3.0L or just 3.0L Cab? I have 3.0L sedan and will replace the coils tomorrow.

Thanks.

It does apply to all B6 3.0. I have a sedan as well and that is the way it is. Replacing a coil pack this evening to troubleshoot a rough engine issue.

You need to clear the fault with a Vag-Com and then drive about 60-70 miles before re-scanning. You may be out of the woods!

You don't have to clear it with a vag com. You can just use a regular code reader from autozone, which is free to rent.

I'm a newbie and just wanted to thank the members of this forum for helping me diagnose a faulty coil pack on my 2004 Audi 1.8T this morning.

With the knowledge gleaned from this thread, I was able to remove and replace the faulty pack and get to an important appointment with minimal delay and expense.

I'm lucky - the original pack lasted 115,000 miles! We all have to go sometime.

Cheers,
Allan
