instruction to replace coil pack?
ok...thanks...auditech79...followed your advice...all is running well...however...cel is still on...anything I need to do to turn it off?...or just let it be?....also wondering if there is anything I need to do so as not to see the misfire code when I get it checked again at the Zone?
The 3.0L packs are kind of a bitch to get at, you need to remove those little torx screws holding the harness down or you will break the connector to the packs. You REALLY don't want to do that so just take your time. If you don't have a T15 torx (super small) to pull the screws out, just use a small flat head screw driver or pliers to get them out, they aren't bolted in there real tight.
I never put them all back in either, completely unnecessary.

WOW I never read this part. Sorry guys, I thought it was more cut and dry.
As always, with regards to the CEL, get it scanned and find out what your fault codes are. If you live in Ottawa Ontario, I can do it for you.
Cheers

Thanks.
It does apply to all B6 3.0. I have a sedan as well and that is the way it is. Replacing a coil pack this evening to troubleshoot a rough engine issue.

I'm a newbie and just wanted to thank the members of this forum for helping me diagnose a faulty coil pack on my 2004 Audi 1.8T this morning.
With the knowledge gleaned from this thread, I was able to remove and replace the faulty pack and get to an important appointment with minimal delay and expense.
I'm lucky - the original pack lasted 115,000 miles! We all have to go sometime.
Cheers,
Allan
