Default Lotsa Lights ON! CEL, etc

All,

Happy Thursday!

Help!

I'm experiencing the following with my 2002 Audi A4 3.0 82000 miles:

*Check engine light ON- flashes (stays still @ times)
*Hood light- blinks as though the hood is not closed; however it is. (I think this is a broken sensor?)
*Service Light ON- abt a week now

I'm taking the Audi to the dealership 1st thing in the morning. Irequested a service which I was quoted $450 and the service manager suggestedto get a timing belt joband oil changeinstead.....ONLY $1900. The service manager advised that he has seen too many times were the timing belt breaks before the ownermanuals suggested replace. He also suggested that I get a service @ 90,000 instead. He wants to do prevented maintenance I guess? Also I took myAudi to Auto Zonetoday andmycheck engine codes read as follows:
P0741, P0302, P0303, P0301, P0300, P0015, P0021, P0421 & P0431.Will someone pleaseexplain what this means to me? Are these costly repairs.Could a GOODmechanic easily work on Audi's are should I always have Audi certified technicians under the hood (dealership)?

Thanks in Advance,

For the 1.8 T motor, the flashing CEL means that you could be damaging your catalytic converter. Do you feel the motor running a bit rough? A bad coil pack on one cylinder would cause that and give the flashing CEL. Also for the 1.8 T motor, the timing belt and tensioner are suppose to be replaced at 80,000 miles. Not sure about the 3.0 though. You can look up engine codes here on the site to find out their exact meaning.

he has a 3.0 though, but cats are known to go on those pretty early, they should be warrantied for 8yrs/80k miles

damsel ... looks like you have alot of problems on your hands. your coils are most likely bad, your transmissionseems shot, your catalytic converters seem shot, or it could just be your 02 sensors.your timing seems shot. you own a 3.0 so sounds like youre in for an expensive repair tab. I'm not a tech or anything so i cant say anything withcertainty... thedealer will charge you too much. find an independent shop thatsknowledgable withaudis.
