Default mbc install and problems

I installed a turboxs hpmbc and only got seven psi. pulled over tried to change it and it was about 5 psi. i thought i was running off the wastegate so i flipped it and got the same result. what gives??

fyi i never boost anywhere near 14 psi.

First, make sure you have it set up right.
- Brass fitting/b&s, adjust till the ball doesnt make noise and then one more full turn
- top/bleed/fine adjustment, it is 2 full turns from closed

Next make sure it is installed correctly. The charge pipe goes to the brass fitting and the wastegate goes to the colored nipple. From there you can just adjust both till you get to what psi you want.

This is all assuming you have removed the n75 from the loop, like you should

I have it set up pretty damn close to that as far as i know. And its set up without the N75. There is not a brass and a colored nip, there both silver so if you can explain it again differently that would be more help. As of know i have the hose off what i believe is the wastegate into the nip with the arrow. The wastegate is the brass colored ball shaped thing correct?? and as i said i had it flip dloped before with the same results.

sounds like you have it right, the b&s is the brass fitting and the pressure goes to the opposite nipple and the wastegate goes to the bottom nipple. It could be just the ball and spring isnt tight enough.

Because a mbc will spool the turbo faster, hold boost longer, and even smooths out boost onset (depending on the mbc). A good mbc is better than a n75 anyday, and a good ebc is better than the best mbc.

depends what he is running, if he is stock or 1+ it just seems like a lot of trouble... to each his own, im just curious... EBC is def the way to go especially BT, it would be nice to be able to turn it up or down as needed from inside but im sure i would leave it turned up all the time

thats why i did it. Im slowing modding the car for a larger turbo and wanted a few more psi before that time comes, and with the faster spool, longer holding of boost it seemed like a good idea. It smoothed out a jerky first gear so its not all bad. The turbo will now boost 8-10 psi now (about where i expected the boost controller to be) with partial throttle and about 5psi when on the floor in 3rd, 4th, and 5th. Guess i just need to set it up right but i do believe its a little better than it was.

Since you didnt notice, i thought i point out that i not once said anything about increasing/decreasing boost. The hpbc like he has smooths out the spiking and boost onset greatly along with holding psi much longer than a n75 is capable of.

Trouble? It took me all of 30secs to install my hpbc and then not even 5mins (driving and then stopping to adjust boost) to set the boost and bleed and b&s to where i like it. I wouldnt call that trouble.
