Okay this has been going on for a couple ofweeks and its getting old. My car sputters while in drive and sitting still "only".It dosent seem to sputter while im in park. I checked the vac lines and found a broken piece replaced it and still the car wont stop. i notice when i turn the air condition on the car stops sputtering. Insight anyone? oh yea its a 2003 a4 1.8t.

 

Recently had the same issue on my 2002 A4 1.8.. progressively got worse over the course of a month to a point where one day my car had a tremendous power loss and the entire car shook when excelerating.. turned out to be a bad coil pack which in-turn required an engine decarb and a $335 bill from an audi dealership.. realized afterwards how easy they are to change and how much cheaper it is.. turns out this is a common problem with b6 model years but if you go on esctuning.com and search for ignition coil packs youll see 3 different options to choose from.. soo yeaa id defiently check that before you have the same problem as me! and if you do it yourself just change all 4 while your at it..

Another thing to consider.. if youre car has logged at least 50K miles since they were last changed (if at all) id say its a good possibility

 

aight man ill check into that hopefully thats my problem do you think if i got my car scanned at autozone that it would tell me with pack has gone bad>?

coil packs . just had same type of issue on my 04 1.8t. lost #2 and #4 should replace spark plugs if ur switching coils unless they have recently been done

 

where u get ur coilpacks from?

 

ECS tuning is pretty good. I got the Hitachi coils which are supposed to be more durable than the stock ones..

 

I've got these same symptoms on my "02 Quattro 3.0. Had the VAG-com and ended up changing the knock sensors but I'm still sputtering like you describe. Do you think think this will fix my problem????

 

i had this problem too, got the coils changed and the shaking problem was gone
