i dont think so... i had a misfiring problem before... prolly y i have a burnt cat now.. but i replaced all the spark plugs and coil packs already and im not getting a code for misfiring....

 

Catalytic converters are covered under the Federal 8 year/80,000 mile Emissions Warranty, if you are still within that range?

 

yeah i didnt know that... never heard of it... and now some guy i talk ed to on the phone from Audi said that because i already had someone change the CAT that they wont honor the warranty... i might just have to put the old one back on n then go to Audi cause im still getting the code...

 

i live in WA and i have the incomplete on catalyst but my car is not showing a CEL, will it pass or will it fail with the incomplete? i recently fixed my P0411 by replacing old vacuum lines and that was the only code i had stored before i cleared the P0411 and now it comes up as ok, not sure if my catalyst said ok or inc before i reset the codes but wouldnt a failed catalyst store a code and turn on the CEL? I have four cold starts and about 30 miles on it since the fix, thanks for the help

 

hey muddlehead... im not as good as the other guys on here but i, sure once u clear any codes u have the catalyst monitor is one of the last to clear cause i checked mine almost everyday before i took it to get the emission to make sure it cleared... it took a while... but my 2000 A6 2.7T's check engine light was on one time i cleared it n went to get it tested like 4 hours later n it passed... not sure if they let it slip by... but i tried the same thing with my 2002 A4 1.8T and it failed cuz the monitors werent complete... so if u got the cats replaced u should definitely wait til the monitor is complete cuz u might fail again... hope this helps... good luck

 

i have a 2002 A8L with a bad driver side cat. If i buy a universal....and have it installed, will the check engine light stay off once erased? some audi mechanics are saying no..is this true
