Default New Clutch

Sorry guys, I know this has been answered, but I was hoping to get help on my specific situation.

I need a new clutch, my old one is chattering like mad. I took it into my local mechanic and he quoted me on parts: 1200 for OEM clutch, and 1300 for a solid mass clutch. Then 10 hours of labor. So the total would be around 2500 dollars! This sounds freakishly expensive to me, but I haven't been able to get a quote from a dealer yet... how do these prices sound? And do I want to stick with an OEM Clutch, or for 100 more go up to the solid mass?

I paid $2200 for parts and labor at the dealershipwhen I had mine done. I wish I had put something different in the car now that I'm starting to mod my car. The stock clutchhas trouble holding back "all the torque" of an APR stage 1, and it's only a few months old. I'd go after market if you think you'll be doing things power wise..

wow, i dont know what to say... thats a raping for sure!

I installed a southbend stage 5 ( FE SS) Feramic material on both sides of clutch disc, retail price is $650, probably the strongest clutch you can get without getting a puck style. southbend resurfaced my OEM flywheel for free (just paid shipping)

total price was $650

installed it myself (ie-not an easy job probably 5+ hours on disassembly and another 5+ on reinstall)

about 500-700 for a lightweight aftermarket and 700-1000 for an OEM flywheel. just a rough estimate

if you can afford the downtime southbend will resurface yours for free or any local shop should be able to do it for around $100

you will join the FE SS elite... its a biatch to drive the first few days but once it gets broke in (drive EASY for 1000 miles) it feels about like my stock clutch now that im used to it. its very grabby though
