New Engine Questions

Ok so I just got my car back from an Audi dealership about a week and a half ago, and have put 1k on the new engine. I know that in those previous miles I don't want to abuse the motor at all or else bad things could happen in places I don't want to have to fix.

So my quesiton is. Is 1k an alright point to start pushing the engine? Or do I need to wait longer? By pushing, I mean putting my foot to the ground and reving real high. Obviously not red line.

you basically should of been doing that from the start. Once you get the car you should put it through increasing loads. Basically you want to go through 3-4gear from below 3k to redline. This helps the rings set and will keep good compression for a lot longer. Also you should of had reg oil installed and should change that out with some more reg oil for another 1k miles. After that you should go back to syn oil.

Exactly what Cincy said! A common misconception is you have to go easy on a fresh engine, when in reality you wanna put a load on it to increse cylinder pressure in the engine to help the rings seat properly.

Well crap. I guess I'm going to have to rev up a little more then. Thanks guy.

You'd think the dealership would have told me to put my foot into it. *shrugs* They're probably hoping the engine craps out so they can make more money off of me.

Just get on it and you should be fine.
