Default New guy with clutch problems

Hey everybody I'm kinda new to anything other then a Mopar and I am having some issues with my 2003 A4 1.8t. It is a 5 speed and when I was driving earlier after pushing the clutch in it now has no play it engages immediately and doesn't allow it to shift easily from 1st to 2nd almost like the clutch isn't dissengaging all the way. It's my wifes car and I need it to be reliable can anybody help? Thanks in advance

You might want to bleed the slave cylinder, there might be some air in the system causing the slave not to get pushed as far now.

If that doesn't fix the problem, it could be that the throw-out bearing broke causing the fingers not to get pushed far enough to release the disk. Another thing that would cause this is the disk material coming off the disk causing the disk to act like it is much thicker and causing it to drag.

What would be the best way to bleed. 2 person one pump the other cracks or a vaccum bleeder?

Power bleeder is the best way to bleed the slave cylinder. It replaces the res cap, you pump it to about 10psi and then bleed the slave.

If I don't have one can I do it the traditional way? I am trying to make sure this is the problem since the local Audi dealer refused to replace the slave cylinder without doing the clutch and they want $3000 for a the clutch job.

You can but it might not work all that well.

So last night I opened the bleeder and nothing came out. I couldn't get fluid to come but when I unhooked the line it squirted out of the line. So I am assuming that means my slave cylinder is shot? Also where is a good place to get one cheap?
