Newbie considering 2005 A4 1.8T quattro desperately seeking some info
Hi,
I stopped by the local Audi dealer today to check out an 05 1.8T quatttro manual. it has 34K miles and is still under warranty. Also, Audi will do the maintainance till 50K miles.
Now, the dealer told me that Audi stopped offering the free maintaince till 50K miles after 2005. Is that true or is he bullshitting?
Second, the listed price is 23,900. Obviously i don't plan on paying that much. Can you throw some numbers at me as to what would be a good price?
Finally, what will my experience be like? will i absolutely love the car or will I hate it and have to constantly take in in for repairs and keep envying all the Bimmers around me??
Thanks!!

well my a4 has 85k miles and no problems as of yet, you just need to watch your oil changes and coil packs. but ive seen otherwise on the forums by some people, maybe im just lucky.
also, I dont know about the free maintainance thing, our allroad has free maintainance but it is a 2005 model, so I wouldnt be able to let you know.
and Kelly Blue Book puts the price at 24.5k in excellent condition, with a sunroof, leather, bose sound, multi-cd, cassette, and a power seat. but I dont know the condition of the vehicle so you'd have to get a ballpark figure on their asking price. but call some other dealers and see what they'd offer for the car.
and personally, I love my A4.

I'm looking at almost exactly the same car and around me (MA) all the 2005's go for around $20,000 - $21,000. I have a place that I'm planning on buying a 2004 from, they are asking $19,000 (black) and if I wanted Silver I could get it for $18,000.

You will love it and whenever you see a beamer you will think to yourself, "sucker doesn't know what he's missing"
I know that audi did stop the free service thing, 2005 or 2006 sounds about right - I think bmw is the only company that still does that.
If you buy from the dealer it should include a pre-owned warranty which is really nice to have. I got a 50k mile/2 year warranty extension when I got mine.
WRT price - definitely check kbb and don't pay any more than the kbb price. In my area you can usually negotiate $1k or $2k below kbb.

Thanks for the info. I have been researching the car all weekend and have been getting pretty pumped about the whole thing! Hope to strike a deal tomorrow. The only drawback as I can see is the wimpy 170hp compared to the 184 of the 325xi or 225ho pf the 330xi. But then i found out about "chipping!!' Can't wait to get the car and do a stage 1 from APR one to get it up to 200hp![sm=smiley15.gif]

I just paid $16,500 for a 2004 A4 1.8T Quattro 6 speed with 41k miles from the local dealership. It does not come with any Audi warranty , but I did get a3 monthwarranty from the dealership. The only better deals I found, were on ebay. I didn't feel comfortable spending 16-17k on a vehicle with absolutely no recourse. The nearest Audi dealership has a similar model, and want 22-23k for it. It is certified and all that, but that is a big difference in money.

yes audi stopped service after 2005 models
great car, offer $18 and pay about $20-21
Do an oil change yourself between the dealers 10k oil changes (i used mobil 1 0 40w every 5k) with large filter of course
just keep the oil fresh, carry spare coilpacks or replace them with hitachi E coilpacks (OEM ones blow randomly, but easy swap on the road)
needs fuel filter every 40-50k, my pump went at 60k.. filter was clogged so i do it every 40k now
fun car! beamers are so common and they all seem to have something stuck up their ***, especially 3 series owners...
for $900 you can get APR 1+, injectors and Dv. this will give you more power than the 3.0 and make you love your car again ( got the flash after i lost to a minivan[sm=boohoo.gif])
