No chance

Hi everybody here, i'm newbie and new to the audi cars..i just bought a 2002 A4 1.8t, which everything seems okay..i like it very much ! i didn't even move it as i'm still waiting for the insurance. Right my car is stuck in the garage for the time being, i pop in time to time to discover how it works..as i don't have the user manual. Till yesterday everything was okay when i pushed by curiosity a SET button located in the left side behind the driving wheel, and things started to be changed dramatically, the car doesn't start, the navigation-audio symphony system doesn't work ( turned off within few seconds - this morning starts asking me for a password) no light..now i noticed when i turned the key in the fob, a little car-key icon..appearing on the dashboard, i would think this is something to do with locking and unlocking system, when i did some research in the web i start thinking i accidentally locked the anti-thef system..

Would it be the case? i have no idea what's going on also i reject the failing battery case..cas the previous owner showed me a recent mechanical check-up which everything seems okay ( i gave a go befor baying it)

Any help, it would be very appreciated.

Sounds like the key somehow became unprogrammed.

Check for the manual under the steering wheel.

Thanx Shane, as you reckons the key became unprogrammed, what about the locked car icon on the dashbord? and interior lighting become weak, i think as the back-up battery is working instead of the main battery, this happens only if the anti-theft system is activated.

that lock and car icon is telling you that the immobilizer is active. the car doesnt have a back up battery, so yours may be bad.
