Not gearing up...
Ok, so im driving my A4 '04 1.8T this past wknd and all of a sudden I can't seem to engage in any gear, stuck in neutral. I push down on the clutch pedal and absolutely no pressure to it and car stalls in the middle of the road. I had the Slave and Master cylinder replaced, same problem. Apparently I need a new Clutch Kit...Any expert opinions would be greatly appreciated before I fork up $350, Thnx.

By having no pressure, do you mean the clutch pedal goes to the floor with no effort or what. Can you turn the car off and shift into gear? If so, I suspect the push rod for the slave cylinder fell off of the clutch fork. Go here http://www.a4mods.com/index.php?page...djustment.html and read towards the bottom. Keep us updated.
Thnx for the reply Andy... I can start the car fine, no problem. When I engage the clutch pedal, there is no resistence whatsoever, and I cant switch into any gear...The slave and master cylinder are functioning properly. Pressure plate might have gone out?
If there is no resistance on the slave it will pop, so there has to be something still putting resistance on the slave.
What happens when you start the car in gear, does the car want to creep forward?
If so then your throw out bearing might be broken causing the pressure plate to not be fully pushed down to release the disk or the pressure plate cracked. Only way to find out is to pull the transmission.

Whatz up Mike...My shifter is in neutral, If i press down on the clutch pedal, the car starts fine. Ive put a little pressure trying to get it into gear, but afraid I might make the problem worse...Ive tried to move into 1st 2nd 3rd etc, it wont egage in any gear...Im having the clutch replaced next wk, hopefully that solves this dilemma. Can u visually tell if the clutch or pressure plate is the issue when inspected?
Thnx guys

If you read my thread carefully...I CANNOT engage into ANY gear, flat incline or declined surface, whether car is on or off.

Its just frustrating...Ive been without the Ride for about a month now, 1st the master, then the slave replaced...now the clutch, I just miss cruising The Black Pearl. It starts perfectly, just wont go into gear...Like Mike said, Tranny time...my mechanic said if its not the clutch he wont charge me a dime, hopefully all works out nxt wk.
Even if the clutch is broken you should still be able to go into all the gears using or not using the clutch pedal with the engine off. But in your first post you say there is no resistance with the pedal which is causing you to not be able to get into gear, but that issue should not effect the car while the engine is off.
So no resistance at the pedal is a clutch issue while not getting it into gear with the engine is a transmission/shifter issue. I would start by looking at the shift linkage at the tranmission, if the linkage locking screw is not tight it could have jumped out of the hole. Also check the linkage bolts on the side of the transmission that holds the linkage slider inside the transmission. You can find them on either side of the transmission and is a large torx head bolt.
Here is what that bolt looks like when it snaps. When I had the passenger side bolt snap on my stock transmission it kept me from getting into 1st and 2nd gear. I thought the transmission was done, even replaced it with a 2.8 trans and didn't find the broken bolt till I opened up the transmission.
