oil problem
So I'm assuming you stopped driving the car, try to use 0W40 fully synthetic, I use Mobil 1 brand, other people uses castrol, some use royal purple, just use fully synthetic in that weight. Change your filter as well. When you take the oil out look at it for any decoloration, condensation around the filler cap, any lumps... If there's any lumps in it, you need to drop the oil pan and take a look inside, maybe someoen did put a banana in there after all.
my money is on is the oil pickup being clogged with sludge. Previous owner did not use synthetic because that wasn't required by Audi until 03-04 even then by that time the orig owner was probably not having the car serviced by Audi after the 50k warranty was up. So, you have many miles of Dino oil that has developed sludge in the oil pan, lines, cylinder head etc. When you open it up on the highway the vacuum created by the oil pump is such that it sucks the sludge up from the oil-pan. Before you change to synthetic I'd do a couple flushes with sea foam and regular oil to save on the cost of flushing repeatedly with sythetic. No joke though that can destroy your motor if not addressed.
Ok, V6, check your codes, you should have an implausible signal coming from the oil sensor, after you replace the damn sensor, then do the oil change with filter. If you keep listening to all these 4 bangers and the sludge, you're going to get your head full of fear and restlessness...
Hey dan, just because we have 4 cylinder cars doesnt mean we dont know anything about the v6. Any motor can develop sludge, the VAG 1.8t is not the first and wont be the last to have a sludge issue. Some people dont change their oil. This car has 100k miles and the OP just got it. What if the oil has been changed twice ever? What if it was only changed every 20k miles? Oil traps dirt and after a while it will get gunked up.
To the OP, did you have the pressure tested? Did you replace the sensor?

Oil screen pick up is thicker on the V6... the sludge might be there but like I stated before, unless there's a piece of banana in there blocking the pipe the problem is not being caused by a lack of pressure, unless of course, someoen did put a foreign object in the crankcase, which I already said, would be hilarious.
