Hi, I have a 2005 Audi A4 2.0T

I downloaded these codes using an OBDII

P0171 System Too Lean (Bank 1)
P0507 Idle Control System RPM High

Any idea what the fix might be?

Thanks all.

I am getting the same 2 codes on my 06 2.0T.. (wouldn't your 2005.5 be a b7 ? ... 2.0t)

Do you have any issue at all with your idle? I do. The Idle goes up to like 1200rpm most of the time. Sometimes up to 1500.. and rarely, itll stick at 2000rpm, then go back down after a second or so. It does constantly stick at around 1200-1500rpm though.

Its not all the time though, when i first start the car, its fine for a bit, and then once it starts, it keeps fluctuating. Cleared the codes, tried to do the readaption of the throttle body, nothings changed. Was hoping i would get another code which would help pinpoint the issue but always only those 2 codes.

Thanks guys

Go to start your car. At idle, pull the oil dip stick or open the oil filler cap. Is there a strong suction there?

Haven't checked for suction but the idle goes to crap when i pull the dipstick and the engine is running..

Will check the suction later.. what does it mean if there is (or isn't) strong suction there?

My friend brought his vagcom and I finally did get a code for a intake air leak..dont remember the code but it was these 2 codes and the new one, thats it..

Thanks !

There is some suction from the dipstick.. as soon as I pull the stick, i hear this pretty loud "pshhhh" sound.

I seem to remember trying that before and the idle was not acting normally.. but when i tried this week-end, it didn't seem to affect the idle that much at all (not like i remembered).

I think the PCV might be hissing.. was looking at BSH "fix" for PCV and can't really tell how it works.. just bolted there and basically no valve?? Its just always open?

edit: nevermind, valve is in the hose.. sorry..

Thanks

I have the 2004 Audi 1.8T.

Check engine light is on. I have my car diagonesed at Autozone, code P0171 & P0507 were read.

Just wonder is the car still safe to drive in the next couple days until I have time to bring it to the dealership to fix. How much is it costs to fix the problem? Thanks.

I am suspecting the defect check valve. Any tips to replace this?

I've been thinking about replacing all of my check valves...Do these seem like they're decent quality, or should I buy a bunch of them for when they break again?

I'm just gonna get the block off plate and eliminate the PCV unit.. will see if that changes anything.

now I think the dipstick is not changing the idle much (life before) because the ecu is already compensating for idle (did not reclear the codes)
