radio code doesn't required after reconnect battery?
All,
I installed PIE iPod adapter today. Before I start installation, I disconnect negative terminal of the battery. After installation and reconnect the battery, my stock head unit didn't ask for radio code. Is it normal?
Anyway, the adapter worked well. Only took me 30 minutes for everything.

If you don't mind me asking, which PIE product did you get? Does it work with the iPhone? Does it charge the phone as well? Will it show the song information on the HU? Does the stock cd changer still work? How is it connected? I'm very interested in this.
Thanks for your help.

I got PIE VWR/PC-POD2. I don't know if it works with iPhone or not since I don't have iPhone and the manual doesn't mention iPhone. It does not display song information on the HU. However, it allows you control your iPod via controls on steering wheel. If you have in-dash 6 disk CD changer it will still working fine but not external CD changer. Also, it disables satellite radio as well (I think you need a special cable to make both SAT and iPod adapter work, just google it).
Here is the user manual: http://www.discountcarstereo.com/pdf/vwrpc-pod2.pdfand here is the installation diagram: http://a4mods.com/index.php?page=webcontent/pages/icelink.html I followed the diagram pretty much all the way except I didn't remove glovebox. There is a pre-cut hole at the back of the glovebox. I think it is designed for an external device (like CD changer or something) since I don't have one so I just route the docking cable through it.

Yes, that's normal, to answer your question. The car recognizes the radio (not kidding). The older models used codes, but the newer ones don't (can't remember when they srted doing that). This goes for most VW's too. As long as the same radio is going back into the car it came from, no code is needed.

Yes, it charges iPod while hooked up.
I purchasedfrom eBay and cost me $84.95 include shipping. It sells for $159 from PIE web site but I see lots of other sites sell for $129 or cheaper.
