service interval changed ?
Hi all,
I have a 3005 A4 with 39K miles, certified and also under original warranty including maintainance up to 50K. The dealer did the 35K service before i bought the car but now, its coming up on 40K and the car dashboard is indicating that a service is due in 1000 miles, i.e. at 40K miles. The manual says the next service is at 45K...what has changed?
Also, will Audi cover the 40K service, since I stll have the free maintanance on it or is this extra?
Thanks!

Audi will only cover the scheduled maintenance indicated in the service booklet that comes with the car. You're going to have to pay for this oil service if you want to keep your car running well. Audi used to specify a 10k oil change interval, but with the sludge problems that the 1.8T engines have had issues with they shortened the interval to 5k.
I know that some a4 have their service intervals set to 10K, and some (not that many) set to 5K. So maybe they somehow changed that, or your car was set to 5K prior to that.
It is easy to reset it. And make sure you get a fully synthetic oil.
