Should I Upgrade?

Should I Upgrade?
I have been driving my 2003 A4 1.8T for about 2 years. I bought it used and now the extended warrenty has run out. I have probably put about $5K into the car in the past 2 years through miscellaneous repairs and maintanence. The problem right now with my car is the engine is misfiring. This is twice in a few months and I'm not happy about it. Each time it happens it has to be towed, and takes a lot of time and effort to get it fixed.
Several emergency issues have come up (in addition to the one mentioned above) and are getting costly and annoying considering the caliber of vehicle I'm driving. The same stuff happened with my Ford Ranger and it made me hate it. I love the Audi but I'm thinking I need to upgrade to a new A4 or at least a newer A6. My question is if the higher end vehicles get just as many problems as the A4, or does Audi build the A4 cheaper and therefore parts fail quicker or sooner than the A6 and A8. I rarely see an A6 or A8 in the service department, but I'm wondering if that is because they are more rare.
Any advice is appreciated.

RE: Should I Upgrade?
misfires are somewhat common on these cars. its usually just a simple coilpack or plug thats gone bad and needs replacing. it only takes ~10 minutes to fix. bet the dealership raped you tho and fed you bs

RE: Should I Upgrade?
I am an Audi owner for 2 months now. Love the car. I have put $1,500 in it, but all went to cosmetic upgrades. But, if I put 5 large in repairsin this thing in 2 years, I am not going to be a big fan of it. I will probably be divorced too.
