This is the sound my car is making...resonator replace didn't help any ideas?

tofast2belast 12-30-2012 09:31 AM

that sounds like a muffler tip touching the bumper.

Negative, the sound is coming from under the rear seat area. The shop couldn't pin point the source, but said it sounded like was coming from the fuel tank. They used the stethoscope type device and that was all they could come up with. They said it wasn't fuel pump as they could hear the separate hum coming from it.

Try re-tightening your exhaust clamps and check visually if you have a hole on the resonator or muffler.

Do you think it would be possible that the fuel pump came loose some how carousing it to vibrate/pulsate heavily creating the noise? The shop i went to have exhaust checked said the song seemed to be coming from within the tank but could hear the hum of fuel pump separate from the annoying noise.

if your fuel pump is humming its on the way out. The pump is pretty tightly held in place via a plastic ring lock. I dont see it coming loose unless someone messed with it and didnt screw the ring back in place properly.
