Hi Guys, My A4 B7 2.0t threw and engine light the other day, i had the code read and it was 'Air leak to the intake system'(left the printout at work and cant remember the actual code). Car drives perfectly fine, but the idle was erratic for all of 30 seconds when i was getting the code read.



I had a really good look around the engine bay and could hear a sucking of air, armed with a squirt bottle of water the only thing i could find that was drawing air was the circular item circled in red below in the centre of the photo. I have a reasonable mechanical knowledge, but other than the fact i can see its connected to the intake manifold i cant tell what it is or if it should be drawing air. (If anyone has a workshop manual in pdf please PM me!)



The intake manifold seam seems to be a little wider in the area circled in the lower right corner of the photo, could this be it? Has anyone else had this error code and is there something specific i should be looking for?
