Planning on swapping out my coil packs this weekend. Does anyone know where I can find a DIY? I know it's pretty simple but I don't want to screw anything up.

Also, is the coil pack removal tool really necessary?

I'm a little late, but I was gonna steer you to the SparkPlug Change thread in DIY...it is the first part of that process.

 

Did you not get the free recall from the dealer?

 

Unfortunately not, the dealer told me the recall only goes up to 2007, I have a 2008. I guess in theory this means th 2008 B7 coil packs are fine but I don't want to take any chances, so I figured I'd do it myself.

 

2008's may have been when the new ones came out. They may have you there. There could be a month when they did use the old ones and then they would let you know via letter if you are in the recall. They were doing all the older cars first. Keep your reciepts if you fix any because i believe if you end up on the recall list they will reimburse you.
