Default Burned 1 quart in 5K miles?

Guys got 20k on my b7 and had to put a quart of oil in at after the 15k audi care mandatory oil change? I have not driven the car hard had but may be doing something stupid so will pose the question here: If you go down a long hill and put the car in neutral and coast at a high speed does it cause any issues? thanks!

no...it saves a lot of gas tho

and did you check your oil when your car was hot or cold?.....cause after you drive it your oil may ''appear'' low when really it hasn;t settled back into the pan yet

Does it save gas? If you're in neutral it's going to be at idle throttle, and unless your foot is on the gas it should be at idle anyway. If you're in gear, it might not even need to have any throttle to keep at idle RPM.

I believe audi finally released a TSB repair about excessive oil consumption on the 2.0T engine. It has to do with the PCV valve assembly. You might want to take it to the dealer and have them run an oil consumption test, or they might have authorization now a days to just repair it.

Hey guys thanks! I am glad the coasting does save gas mileage when i shift into neutral and the rpms go down to 6-8k. Also appreciate knowing it doesnt bother the turbo.

regards

if u wanna save more gas don't go higher then 2700-3000 rpms at all.....its not a high enough RPM to properly spool up the turbo therefore you use less gas because there is no forced induction

its not bad for your car but you won't have that pep you would normally have around like 3500-6000 rpm

Thank you for the great information. I will keep that in mind during every fill up....and once in a while exercise the turbo ;-)
