Default Is this a common B7 issue with the speedometer?

My vehicle speedometer when checked with the GPS doesnt read accurately. At 79/80mph the gps says 75? I have noted at slower speeds the inaccuracy too. Guess nothing to worry about but did expect the German engineers to have a bit more accuracy...comments? Is my gps bad.. tomtom.

I haven't checked mine, but I've heard of this issue before. Not sure why it's like that, though. :/

Mine is the same way. I check it against my GPS and it seems I am always going about 5 mph slower than what my spedo says I am.

bring it in.....the gps is alot more accurate then your speedometer because the gps is constantly using the formule speed = distance over time and alot of manufacturers are geting caught by making there speedometers read inaccuaratly meaning you run your warranty out faster....look it up theres a bunch of articles about it

From what I've heard it seems it's only the speedo that's off, but the odometer is still accurate, so it wouldn't affect warranty time.

this is a debatable subject on almost every car forum.

if you were to contact the manufacturer, they would prolly tell you the specs give for a +/- 5% differential. which i believe is around 8 mph. no system is perfect, and they won't claim it is.

and your gps won't hold up in any court or legal preceedings, i guarantee you the gps manufacturer wouldn't back you up if you try. so just follow the speedo... everyone else does
