custom center caps DIY
If you like many other A4 owners have experienced the dreaded pealing paint from your audi wheels, i have some quick tips on how to spruce them up.
1. if you catch this early enough{ ie before the yellow plastic is exposed} you can lightly very lighty sand with 320 or higher grit sandpaer the face of the caps, and clear coat, first remove the caps and take not of the condition, next remove the badges chrome and other trinkets on them, this is easy just locate the clips on the back and lightly press them out make sure each tong is pushed through the cap before turnin over and pulling off the badge or you will damage the badge!!
2. after you should have just a plane jane plastic panted cap, clean it with soapy water and lightyl rough the surface, you are not trying to remove paint unless you are gouing to repaint!!! after was again with soapy water let sit and dry, make sure they are dry!!
3. with some high gloss clearcoat, make sure u get enamel paint, i suggest buying premium paint it willl show in the result. lightly apply your first coat, the loss of clear is the major reason for the depainted surface! after it tacks about two mins, applly a second coat repeat this at least three coats,
4. after dry insert emblems and intstall on vehicle
if the paint is gone and you can see yellow plastic you can replace the caps for about 40$ apiece or for about twenty you can just sand down the painted surface in step two you start with a low grit and work towards the 320 grit when you see mostly yellow than you need to primer the surface remeber patience is key so lightly apply two coats and before the second dries appliy the paint color of your choice, remember enamel paint and light coats, i went with gloss black to offset the wheels and it looks great, but u can try to match the aluminum color if you like, the enamel shouldnt need a clearcoat if you go with gloss just remember to wait till the caps are dry to push in the emblems,
heres some pictures of how mine came out and post any questions

I nailed you by about 7 months. Not too many people seemed to care. I swithed to S4 rims shortly after.
