Default Does this A4 seem reasonable?

Howdy,

I'm in the market for a new A4 and came across this 2007. Does that seem like a fair price for the year/mileage? It seems on par to me but wanted to get expert opinions

Not a bad price considering the fairly low mileage. My opinion, not great, but not terrible. Just be aware that if it's a 2wd auto, it's a CVT transmission.

CVT not good. 6sp manual was rated the best tranny for the 2.0T's (F-trac/Quattro) next to tiptronic (Quattro). Nice looking ride though, and a true S-Line (2007) not left over bumper's etc. for the '08's.

I didn't end up going with this A4... mainly because I read about some shady practices at this dealership.

Is the CVT not good because of performance or reliability?

Both. I suppose if you like a silky smooth, no shiftpoint experience, you might like it, but it just felt weird to me and I didn't feel like it kicked in as well off the line. Just personal preference, but make sure you drive one and really know that's what you want. It's a very different experience. If you want the best performance, it's the 6-speed manual for sure.

As KingWulfgar said, I would also say performance and some reliablility issues. If you want a performer (especially if you chip) then the 6sp manual is the way to go. Before I bought mine new in '07 I read several reviews (German) that stated the best transmission for the A4 (then) was the 6 speed manual then the tiptronic etc. The CVT was described as a tranny for older folks. Also be cautious of buying an 2008 listed as an SLine. In '08 all US A4 B7 models came with the SLine Front Bumper and rear trunk lip but were not a true Sline. I have seen several online dealers trying to pass these off as SLines (and charge a premium) but are really the SE version.

Good luck!
