Down to Two Cars . . .
 

Hey Everyone,

I just graduated college and am about to buy my first car and would like your opinion (even if it is biased, which is surely is). I am deciding between these two cars:

1) 2007 BMW 328i, CPO, Black Exterior / Tan Interior, 49,000 miles
Price: $20,900 (Got it down from $22,900).
Pros: Ride and performance is superior to anything I have driven . . . ever. I like the color contrast between the exterior and interior. Haven't heard of any real common reliability issues. Salesman was amazingly nice and helpful. AUX adapter for iPhone/iPod connection.
Cons: For someone as young as me, I feel a bit "douchey" riding around in a BMW . . . maybe I'm just used to college life. RWD limits practicality relative to next option.

2) 2007 Audi A4 Quattro, S-Line Titanium, CPO, 36,000 miles
Price: $21,900 (Hard to beat that price)
Pros: AWD a big plus in terms of flexibility. Love the look of the S-Line Titanium. Less miles.
Cons: Performance was decent but definitely less impressive than the BMW. I forgot to try the S-mode (how big of a difference is it?). Salesmen were a bit pushy. iPhone connection options may be a bit of a pain.

So there it is, let me know what you think. I'm definitely leaning towards the Audi, but 328i is tempting.

Out of curiosity, how in the world did you find an 07 S4 w/36,000 miles for that cheap? Make sure you're checking the Carfaxes on these, there might be a reason the prices are so low.

For the record, I'm fresh out of school too. I bought a 2007 A4 with 16,500 miles for 22,900. I thought that couldn't be beat. I have no regrets whatsoever so far, except for having to swap the brakes and rotors.

I own a 328i and an A6 both are expensive to fix but the BMW will out handle the Audi on a dry twisty road, flat out acceleration the A6 wins hands down. BMW get better mileage. Audi goes though snow, dirt roads, wet gravel, grass, and ice. IMO I find the audi more comfortable for long trips. Both are good cars but I'd rather drive my Audi when the weather is bad, for a canyon carving trip the bmw wins. thats. my opinion hope it helped

Thanks for the replies. I've checked the Carfax report multiple times, as I was a bit surprised by the price as well, but it's all good. Also, to be clear, it is an A4 with the S-Line Titanium package (body kit, styling, etc.), not a S4, which is a much superior, much more expensive car.

This sounds a lot like my situation. First car comes down to a BMW and an Audi.

Long story short I got the Audi. Only regret is I didn't get a quattro or s-line package.

You can upgrade the 2.0T with an ECU flash, and outperform the 328 handily.

Is this a trick question? You are on an A4 forum. And titaniums are the best looking and rarest. Hands down Audi.

i asked myself the same question before i took the plunge with the a4 but i was also considering a C-class merc. i chose the audi mostly because of the quattro-the best AWD system out there. it was banned from rally competitions because it was so good. i go through alot of snow and the quattro has been great.

The S-Mode turns your calm quiet Audi into a loud, high reving German racecar. It's pretty much a big deal.

exactly. the s mode brings out the engines dark side. in d mode it's pretty tame and smooth unless you mash the throttle but the s mode makes the engine seem like it's done 2 hollywood lines of cocaine.
