Front brake pads
 

Just curious as to what your cars mileage was when the indicator tripped telling you that the front brakes were worn and needed replacing. Mine just went off at 74,500 miles. My Jetta's original brakes lasted until 126,000 miles. I'm guessing that the previous owner of my A4 was hard on the brakes since as part of the CPO, I demanded and got new front rotors at 35,000 miles since the ones on the car were so warped that they about shook the car apart when slowing from highway speeds.

i'm at 54,500 miles and they're still the original pads with 5 mm left in the front. my golf is at 57,000 miles and the original pads are still being used too. you must be very light on the brakes or you do alot of highway driving.

the dealer figures i have another 3-6 months left with my audi's pads. he said to just call when the warning light comes on.

Nearly 90K when I traded mine and never had any brake work done. Sure most was highway but these cars have great factory pads. My B6 had the rears go out at 80K and I had original fronts on a 100k trade in. Crazy.

Yep, I do mostly highway miles. I'll have them check the rear pads while I'm there. Amazing the difference in pad life. Materials and how hard you are on them makes quite a difference in longevity. My Jetta's original rear pads went out at 40,000 miles. They were to soft. The replacements VW useed were harder but squealed.

Well $ 396 dollars later new front pads and rotors. Though it was going to be even worse. Interestingly the original pads managed to go though two sets of rotors before needing to be replaced.

nice. that's not expensive at all. these brakes...nobody can even understand real (braking) performance unless they've driven an audi.

Yep can't complain. I still have 35% on the rear pads. next is new tires. I will need them before winter. BMW's will also have brakepads outlast the rotors. I read somewhere that the German cars use harder pads and softer rotors, since that combination stops quicker. Its not good for rotor life though. I'd rather avoid a crash than have longer lasting rotors.

Anyone know which brand/website you'd recommend? I need to replace the front pads this weekend.

Creeping up on 100k....no brake light! i do believe i will have em all replaced for safety reasons when i get the timing belt done (soon)
