FSI High Pressure Fuel Pump Problem
I bought a cam follower for an 06 Audi A4 for $11.00. I know it was not a crappy part 'cause it's brand name FEBI. I bought it at qeautoparts.com. My car has been working great ever since. try it out guys i highly recomend it. later.
Wow thats cheap!!!!!! i looked at the DIY $11 is actually worth doing all the labor myself
whats the part number or the hyperlink to it. i cant seen to find it on the site
Audi hasn't released what the cause of the cam tensioner issues are but from what i have seen at the dealer is the late 05-06 models are the ones suffering from worn intake cams. Some of the ones i have replaced were under 20,000 miles. Oil does play of factor of course, but changing it every 5k isn't going to fix the problem i think. Im assuming its a problem with the lifter/pump, or maybe even a weak cam lobe on the cam. Audi was well aware of the problem in early 06 so they might have made a design change for the 07+ models, god only know what they did until they finally release a recall or TSB repair for it. Who knows really, im just grabbing at straws and speculating, i don't know for sure. Best case scenario is to check it if you own a pre 07 model and make sure you're car isn't being affected.
Everyone should do themselves a favor and change this part. I personally am not lol because i'm trading the car and I'm CPO up to 100k. If you love your car and want to keep it problem free though....DO IT.
When I brought my US Spec'd A4 to a German Audi here for its first 5000 mile oil change, they thought I was nuts! They told me that German Audi's (no different than US Audi's except lights and Tacho) get their first oil change at 30tkm's (18tmls). I of course said hell no, I have to follow the maintenance schedule. Audi here uses long life oil (what that means I do not know) and apparently their oil changes are not as frequent, which I find kind of strange. If you ever come to Germany and cruise the Autobahn, 60% of the cars going over 120mph are Audi's (always in the far left lane). Nor do they seem to have these problems with cam wear from what I have seen...so far.
