Im scared to purchase an 07-08 A4
So far so good on mine. Purchased a 2007 2.0T in August last year with only 24,000 miles on it for $19,900.
Had the cam follower/hp fuel pump work done on it recently under warranty, otherwise no service.
Needs a quart of oil about every 5k miles...but I used to drive an RX-8, so that was nothing new, ha. Its also not a big deal.
Couldn't be happier with my choice.

I have had my 2006 A4 2.0T Q for 3 yrs and 40k mi. Now it has 61k on it and I am waiting for it to crap out. Nothing is wrong with it, and I love the little motor in it. Just keep hearing the whining of many ppl that their car is broke or will need fixed at xxxxx miles. It's a VW for petes sake, drive the damn thing it will be ok, spend the cashola at 100k and you will be good til 200k. I do think my wifes BMW will be less headache.
i dont care the house power; I just feel that European/ German's car has a better design & driving experience than most other country's car. Gear shifting on German car is a lot better, smoother than any other racing car (WRX, Evo, s2000 etc...)
Before i got my A4.. i did some research on the car with the different engines.. i lucked out because the car i got was a 3.2 and had only 17k miles on it at the time.. of course a little over a year later i have about 38k miles on it.. no real problems what so ever.. maint cost was as expected as from the dealer.. warranty still there.. despite what you might hear about the troubles with audi's there are similar examples from other car makers.. it's just up to how the car makes you feel... and mine makes me feel pretty damn good!
