multitronic gearbox problem
 

hi on my 2005 2.0tdi multitronic audi, when i drive sometimes all of the gears are highlighted so i cant switch them. also some times p,n,r,d and s are all highlighted whilst driving when it should only highlight d. has anyone got any ideas as to what the problem is and how big

Could be the transmission, or the control module. If it's the transmission, I've generally seen around $7k to replace. If it's the TCM, I think it's still over $1k. Or if you're lucky, just some weird electrical gremlin.
