Question the mystical 40.9..

..the milage indicator has never displayed anything more than 40.9 L/100 km. in this video it also never passes that number..
Audi RS6 Avant review - YouTube

is there some strange law in germany that forbids fuel delivery rates greater than 40.9 L/100 km to an internal combustion engine?

have you ever noticed that? BTW, 40.9 L/100 km=5.75 mpg.

discuss.

Whoa, I don't think I've ever seen mine drop that low, even going up a mountain with my fuel trim screwed up by a cracked intercooler I was still showing around 8.

i don't mean to be debbie downer but i'd look into that. boost leak? why would my identical engine show a much lower milage? maybe the meter only goes up to that reading before it cuts off.

Yeah, I got it replaced! Runs much better now! Were you just doing a hard acceleration to get it to go so low?

wow. no chit! right on.

yeah since i drove her off the dealership lot and even after all the bolt-ons the mileage has always had a "peak display" of 40.9. the only time the mileage is that bad is when the car rolls slowly from a dead stop or when i floor it on the highway.

Cool, you've given me a new game to play on my way home from work. Thanks! Will comment after.

Heh, you know I tried yesterday, but I can't find a straight long enough to see it go this low. I live in a very urban suburbia. There's light after light, no hills, plenty of cops/ other cars... and the computer has a 1-2 sec delay. I need to find me a place to try this. Maybe a nice long highway ramp (because it's uphill), or just a more rural road. I think the lowest I saw was around 8-9mpg yesterday ( I know, I know... what a wuss).

no don't take the risk of getting a ticket. i also see the uber low mileage from a dead stop and very light on the gas.

hmm, my display takes like two second to change the mpg, and by that time I've already lifted off the gas pedal and I get some mixed reading. It's even slower now, since it's pretty cold here, the display can't handle it. I'll keep trying. If I get pulled over though, I'm telling the cop " hey this esandes guy from the forum made me do it!"
