Thumbs up perhaps this could help some

now that theres a more solid server on this forum site and the risk of typing something for a half an hour then clicking post only to have it blow up on you is over i thought this could be a good idea

ive been doing alot of research on aftermarket products....mainly performance wise and i figured i would group the websites to help people be a little quicker to the mod scene

starters:

gonna have to go with air filters:

carbonio intake - found at www.goapr.com
-hp increase...0-2 hp

pro's
great sound
great look
solid product

con's
big money for little gain ($$$341??)

K&N air filter - found at any auto store (autozone)
- hp increase 0hp

pro's
mild sound difference
no look difference

con's
...not really any cons you should get one no matter what

there are other intakes that claim to be cold air intakes but to be honest and after talking with the owners of FARENBACHER racing, those products do not come with heat shields and really all your doing is losing horsepower gains throughout the entire map,

next i would go with chips (alphabetical...get it?)

apr's chip

they come in stage 1 and stage 2

stage 1 includes hp gains of about 45hp and 45lbs of torque

apr also features lockout features that help disguise your car from being chipped if your nervous about the warranty

average cost 600 and up depending on how many options to roll with

stage 2 requires the intake and exhaust....also a good idea to invest in a catless downpipe

gains of about 70 to 80 hp and 60 to 70 lbs of torque

where to find? shop around your local shops, also sometime audi dealerships themselves will chip your car if they are cool enough to carry the product
more research to be done at www.goapr.com

GIAC chip

a nice aggressive chip for the price (700 i think)

gains about the same as APR stage 1 just a little different throttle mapping done to the chip

research to be done at www.giacusa.com

REVO chip

one of the most aggressive chips you can buy looking for gains along the lines of 45-50hp and running higher boost then both the giac and apr chip, and solid choice but kind of hard to find dealers that carry this chip

priced around 500 flat with a bonus of being able to ''test drive'' the chip befor eyou buy it meaning they temporarily flash your ECU so you can see what its like

also feature the lockout mode for worriers alike

UNITRONICS

not quite as popular as the big four aforementioned, however its what i'm running in my car so i figured i'd give it a shout out

so far i like it, very aggressive a little jumpy but i'm getting used to it, gains of 47-50 hp and 50lbs of torque, the place that did my chip also spent an extra hr fine tuning the chip to work better with my car i don;t know if thats a requirement of the chip or if the place that did my chip did an over-the-top job or not

ran me 630 out the door including tax

theyre are more chip companies out there but those are the big 4 plus mine, all of the said mentioned are pretty safe chips for your car

pro's of a chip
-really get to drive your car
-huge gains with not so huge money
-makes daily driving alot more fun

con's of a chip
-added stress to the diverter valve (it WILL break on you be prepared to replace it)
-dealerships can hassle you, however thats really all they can do as it does not void your warranty
-...makes you drive faster, sportier, and less fuel freindly-....er....idk that one may be just me :-P

diverter valves

okay, if you chip your car.....you will need a new diverter valve, the one that make for the 2.0 is plastic and once you remove it you will realized just how shitty this DV really is

just go forge on this one

runs you about 250 with an additional 50 option to make it a blow-off valve

whether you want a DV or BOV is your personal thing so make that decision on your own

product found at thier website www.forgemotorsport.com

intercoolers

a FMIC on an audi can give you gains of 15-20hp but that doesn;t vary on product, its a pretty standard gain of power on matter what intercooler you choose, you could roll with the AWE intercooler at 1,000 dollars and get 15-20 hp or you could roll the EBAY 200 dollar buy it now and still get 15-20 HP... personally i would go with a cheaper name brand intercooler because you will run into less problems down the road when you go to install it.

greddy

their kit retails for 900-1000, a gorgeous fmic and fomr what i hear not too hard to install

www.greddy.com

ATP

thier fmic retails for 750 another very nice fmic and very easy to install

www.atpturbo.com

AWE tuning

by far the weirdest and biggest fmic ive seen in a while also the most expensive coming in at 1200

www.awe-tuning.com

pros of intercoolers
-more hp at no added stress to the engine
-looks pretty cool
-able to withstand higher boost and future tuning
-easy to install

con's
-can be expensive
-minor cutting to the bumper may need to happen

exhausts

i.....don;t want to get into exhausts because they are alot out there but you really need to listen to them in person or at best online they will add about 20 hp to your car and they run anywhere from 800-1400 plus installation

unless of course you delete or add a high-flo cat, removing the cat IS ILLEGAL and does make your car illegal and will **** off hippies across the world.....now that we got that out of the way it does let your car breathe as it should and gives a tremendous amount of gains in the form of torque, hp, and letting your car rev and un-rev or comedown much quicker

ebay sells catless downpipes all the time

atp makes a catless downpipe for about 175....very affordable

pro's
-easy to install
-gains in all areas performance wise
-improvement in sound

con's
-totally illegal
-will defineltly throw a CEL (check engine light)
-**** off hippies

ok thats about all i want to talk about if anyone has anything else to add please message me and i can adjust the thread...maybe we can make it a sticky, i dunno please be gentle this is the first big writeup ive ever done and i tried to be thourough about it

again here are the websites

www.goapr.com
www.giacusa.com
www.revotichnik.com
www.greddy.com
www.awe-tuning.com
www.atpturbo.com
www.forgemotorsport.com

i think i got em all

theres alot of other stuff out there so do some reasearch this should be a good start tho

A few corrections on APR (yes I have APR, stock, 91,93,100 W/ lock out):

1)APR can allow you to "demo" a ECU flash.

2)Also there are at least 4 additional programs that I know of for the APR tuning.

1. Stock
2. 91 Octane (approx+32 hp / stock according to APR, 40hp /stock according to ECW)
3. 93 Octane (approx+41hp / stock according to APR, 60hp / stock according to ECW)
4. 100 Octane (approx+46hp /stock according to APR, 67hp / stock according to ECW)
5. 104 Octane (unknown)

Now I know there are gonna be people who dispute these numbers, so let me just show you some info :

GOPAR'S info:
