Please help A4 TDi SLine Problem
Hi All,
Throwing this issue out there to all you experts!
I bought a 2006 2.0 TDI A4 Sline in October, after two weeks of owning it went out one morning went to start it and it wouldnt start - the glow plug light wouldnt come on and the engine turned over but did not fire. Took the mrs car to work that day and came back that evening tried it the glow plug light came on and it started fine.
Car was due to go back to the garage to be revaleted so i mentioned it and they took it in to check it out. During them having it they also had the issue but when the engine was warm not cold start.
They replaced two sensors which thought could have been the cause, i'm sure one was the Crank Position Sensor but not sure what the other one was.
Gave it back to me i drove home about two hours later went out to it and it did it again - Off it went next day back to them.
While they had it in their garage i found tucked into the back of the service wallet a receipt from audi saying it had had the ecu replaced under warranty 3 months before my purchase. Informed the garage i bought it from and they spoke to audi who agreed to look at it.
After a week at audi, audi said the only issue they could find with the car was a very slight fuel leak which they fixed. other than that in there opinion the car was fine gave it back to my garage.
My garage not convinced tell me that they are going to replace a wiring loom which they think is causing the issue.
I get the car back at beginning of December and use it constantly no sign of the issue until i'm midway between home and visiting relatives over the christmas period. I stop off at a supermarket come out 10 mins later and it does it again no glow plug light even for a second and it fails to fire just turns over. After ten minutes try again and it fires and hasnt happened again since.
Garage are being more than helpful and looking at sourcing a replacment vehicle but i just wanted any opinions on the fault and any thoughts on the whole issue.

PS it appears that when trying to replicate it has not happened at a point when they can connect it to a fault reader and when it starts successfully it appears the codes are cleared. This i find strange but also when it does happen the car doesnt alert me to a problem (no messages or warning lights) it just doesnt fire.
